JOB DESCRIPTION
TITLE: BUS DRIVER
PRIMARY FUNCTION:
Transporting Students
QUALIFICATIONS:
Good driving record
Commercial drivers license (CDL)
PHYSICAL DEMANDS/REQUIREMENTS
Frequent sitting and/or stooping, and lifting up to approximately 60 pounds of equipment and/or students.
REPORTS TO:
Director of Business and Finance
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
The minimum performance expectations in addition to the inherent requirements of driving a bus include, but are not limited to, the following functions/task:
1. Comply with safety rules and motoring regulations and laws.
2. Conduct pre-trip inspections, maintains safety equipment, reports unsafe bus conditions and keeps bus clean.
3. Stop at authorized stops only.
4. Completes required forms and reports in an accurate and timely manner.
5. Maintain bus schedule.
6. Promote and maintains orderly behavior on bus, based on mutual respect.
7. Handle behavior problems individually when possible. Uses tact and understanding
8. Use good judgment and common sense in carrying out responsibilities and solving problems.
9. Cooperate with administration, parents and other transportation employees in maintaining efficient an effective transportation system.
10. Demonstrate punctuality and regular attendance.
11. Communicate effectively, using good grammar.
12. Practice confidentiality of work-related matters.
13. Follow established school board policies and regulations.
14. Participates in professional development activities, as requested.
15. Perform other responsibilities as assigned.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
10 month contract, non-exempt FLSA status; salary will be established annually by the School Board.
EVALUATION:
Performance on this job will be evaluated in accordance with School Board policy and administrative regulations on evaluation of classified personnel.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Physical Demands:
- Ability to lift, push, or pull 50 pounds. Must be able to climb, bend, stoop, and reach.
- Ability to work in confined spaces.
- Ability to operate equipment related to transportation including passenger vehicles and school buses.
- Ability to operate office equipment such as computers, calculators, and other similar devices.
It is also anticipated that some stress will be associated with this position primarily due to deadlines and irregular workflow. It is necessary that the individual have the capacity to remain calm, considerate, and tactful.
