JOB DESCRIPTION

 

TITLE:             TEACHER ASSISTANT, REGULAR CLASSROOM

 

PRIMARY FUNCTION:

 

     Assist Teacher in classroom

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

     Associates degree equivalent or successful completion of the ParaProfessional Assessment exam.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/REQUIREMENTS

Frequent walking, standing, sitting, stooping, and lifting up to approximately 60 pounds of equipment, materials, and/or students.

 

REPORTS TO:

 

     Principal, Classroom Teacher

 

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

The minimum performance expectations include, but are not limited to, the following functions/task:

 

  1. Carry out instructional activities under the direction and supervision of the classroom teacher.

 

  1. May carry out particular routine aspects of the instructional program under the supervision of the classroom teacher.

 

  1. Assist teacher in maintaining a classroom management policy that fosters a safe and positive environment for all students and staff.

 

  1. Assist in ensuring adequate supervision for students.

 

  1. Assume responsibility for professional growth and keep materials, supplies and skills up-to-date.

 

  1. Complete state autism training requirements and participate in other professional development activities, as requested.

 

  1. Candidate must possess good moral character.

 

  1. Promote a positive attitude in daily communications with students and school employees.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

 

10 month contract, non-exempted FLSA status; salary will be established annually by the School Board.

 

EVALUATION:

    

Performance on this job will be evaluated in accordance with school board policy and administrative regulations on evaluation of classified personnel.
