JOB DESCRIPTION

 

TITLE:                    SCHOOL PSYCHOLOGIST -12 MONTH

 

PRIMARY FUNCTION:

 

To provide psychological services to students in accordance with policies and regulations of the school board.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

.               Hold and maintain a valid Postgraduate Professional License with appropriate endorsement.

.               Have demonstrated the professional and personal characteristics necessary for working effectively with students, school personnel , and members of the community.

 

REPORTS TO:                      Director of Special Education

 

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  1. Provide appropriate psychological assessment for students referred for special education evaluation.

 

  1. Interpret data and develop meaningful written reports of psychological assessment.

 

  1. Serve as a member of the special education eligibility team.

 

  1. Serve as a member of the IEP team when appropriate.

 

  1. Provide group and individual counseling to students.

 

  1. Provide consultation to teachers and other staff.

 

  1. Observe children in various settings for the gathering of data and for possible problem solutions.

 

  1. Develop behavior management profiles for individuals and for groups.

 

  1. Serve as liaison with clinics, other agencies and individuals.

 

  1. Provide in-service to teachers, administrators and special interest citizen groups.

 

  1. Coordinate school crisis team action plans.

 

  1. Complete Medicare information and billing when applicatle.

  1. Serve as speaker for PTO’s, civic, and special interest groups.

 

  1. Provide student threat assessments.

 

  1. Assist with special education program development.

 

  1. Ensure proper care management creating and maintaining confidential student and school personnel information.

 

  1. Provide oversight of Psychological services.

 

  1. Engage in research and keep the school abreast.

 

  1. Develop a “preventive” program in concert with other providers.

 

  1. Maintain logs of services provided.

 

  1. Perform other responsibilities as assigned.

 

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

 

Twelve-month contract, exempted FLSA status.  Salary to be established annually by the School Board.

 

EVALUATION:

 

Performance on this job will be evaluated in accordance with school board policy and administrative regulations and evaluation of administrative personnel.

 

WORKING CONDITIONS:

 

It is anticipate that some stress will be associated with this position primarily due to deadlines and irregular workflow.  It is necessary that the individual have the capacity to remain calm, considerate and tactful.
