JOB DESCRIPTION

 

TITLE: Special Education Diagnostician

 

PRIMARY FUNCTION:
Provides diagnostic evaluations to students who are referred for special education
services and provides oversight of secondary Section 504 services.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:
Master’s Degree in Special Education, School Psychology or other content that directly
supports special education assessment services and Section 504 services.
Extensive knowledge and experience with special education services, Section 504
services including relevant legal requirements.
Experience and knowledge with achievement testing administration and evaluation.
Others experience deemed acceptable to the School Board.

 

REPORTS TO: Director of Special Education

 

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Oversee Section 504 services for secondary school students.
2. Receives student referrals and implements the assessment and evaluation process
within state timelines.
3. Selects, administers, and interprets achievement assessment instruments to
determine student eligibility for special education services according to local, state,
and federal regulations.
4. Collects and organizes relevant assessment data from students’ cumulative folders,
classroom teachers, principals, support staff, parents, and outside resources.
5. Makes appropriate recommendations to the IEP and Section 504 teams, as needed.
6. Attend special education and Section 504 meetings as necessary and required.
7. Be prompt and accurate when providing necessary data from data sources.
8. Facilitate and monitor student administrative paperwork for follow up as needed.

9. Be trained and prepared to provide technical assistance in the administration of
achievement assessments.
10. Be prepared to assist the Director of Special Education with division wide activities
as needed.
11. Work cooperatively with the total school staff.
12. Be prompt and accurate with all data, reports and records.
13. Be proficient in a variety of computer applications.
14. Other duties as assigned by the Director of Special Education.

 

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Eleven month teacher contract, exempted FLSA status. Salary will be
established annually by the School Board.

 

EVALUATION:
Performance on this job will be evaluated in accordance with School Board Policy
and administrative regulations and evaluation of personnel.
