JOB DESCRIPTION

 

TITLE:     TEACHER

 

PRIMARY FUNCTION:

 

To develop and implement an instructional program that will effectively provide the best possible education for each student.

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS and WORKING CONDITIONS:

 

Holds a professional license with a teaching endorsement at the appropriate level;

 

Demonstrates professional and personal characteristics necessary for working effectively with students, parents, school personnel, and members of the community;

 

Ability to travel to more than one work location in the course of the day if assigned to an itinerant position;

 

Ability to monitor and ensure appropriate student behavior, including outdoor activity areas, gymnasiums, etc;

 

Possesses high moral standards and integrity;

 

Competent in the use of instructional technology hardware and software;

 

Frequent walking, standing, stopping, lifting up to 60 pounds may be required; and

 

It is anticipated that some stress will be associated with this position.  It is necessary that the individual have the capacity to remain calm, considerate, and tactful.

     Building Principal/or a designee

 

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  1. Comply with school and School Board policy and regulations.

 

  1. Work cooperatively with the total staff.

 

  1. Relate positively to parents and other community representatives.

 

  1. Demonstrate professional growth.

 

  1. Be prompt and accurate with required reports and records.

 

  1. Demonstrate command of Standard English, both spoken and written.

 

  1. Accept responsibilities outside the classroom as they relate to school.

 

  1. Use instructional and planning time effectively.

 

  1. Assume responsibility of care of materials, equipment and facilities.

 

  1. Assume responsibility for a neat, safe environment for students committed to the teacher’s care.

 

  1. Practice and promote positive interaction with and among students.

 

  1. Demonstrate interest in the students, encourage self-direction and self-motivation in students.

 

  1. Demonstrate knowledge of the subject being taught.

 

  1. Maintain an organized program of instruction based on long range plans.

 

  1. Exhibit evidence of effective lesson plans.

 

  1. Utilize appropriate and varied teaching techniques and learning activities.

 

  1. Communicate lesson objectives and their importance to students.

 

  1. Demonstrate ability to adjust presentation of subject content to students’ needs and interest.

 

  1. Perform other duties as assigned by the Administration.

 

 

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

 

Ten-month contract, exempted FLSA status.  Salary will be established annually by the School Board.

 

EVALUATION:

 

Performance on this job will be evaluated in accordance with School Board Policy and administrative regulations and evaluation of personnel.
